Offshore Windpark Baltic 1, Transformer Station.
Baltic 1 is the first commercial Offshore Windpark in Germany, 16 km in front of the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the Baltic Sea (close to the island of Rügen): 21 Wind Power Plants with a total capacity of 48,3 Megawatt. They produce about 185 million kilowatt hours of electric energy per year, enough for 50.000 households. The transformer station is 22 Meters high above the sea, it weighs 900 tons. Baltic 1 produces electric energy since 2011.
I had the opportunity to visit the construction site in 2010. I picked out some pics and re-edited them recently.
