In our Water Leak Repair Chart (see below as well) we have 228 suburbs/areas named.
Of those we have looked at reports from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality covering the time period 11 March to 28 May 2025 and charted each date that water leaks have been reported as having been attended to.
Of those 228 areas a total of 83 areas have had from 1 to 28 dates upon which water leaks were attended to. The other 145 areas do not appear on any reports.
The areas in which the Municipality operates repairing water leaks are NOT the areas in which the Municipality conducts Electricity Disconnection Blitzes and the reasons therefore are not readily apparent.
Various factors could influence this – ranging from neglect, ageing infrastructure, lack of will to report, efficient ward councillors, culture of damage to infrastructure, high levels of tampering, the list goes on.
