An off-duty police Constable has come out unharmed following a kidnapping and robbery ordeal that occurred on 17 August 2026 at about 23:30 in a guesthouse at Buckingham Road, Mount Croix, Gqeberha.
According to the report, it is alleged that the guesthouse was accosted by three unknown suspects who robbed them of their belongings after they did not get cash. During the robbery the suspects demanded that all the rooms be opened and took tenant’s belongings and a television set. After searching the rooms, they realised that the tenant is a police official, they took his belongings, tied and blindfolded him and took him to their vehicle and drove off.
The member was later released and is receiving the necessary support following the traumatic incident. An investigative team has been activated to ensure that those responsible are traced and brought to justice.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motive are currently being investigated.
