This all has to do with AI and the ‘problems’ that it may cause.
Stick with me as I post what could be random stuff – admittedly those who were early adopters of all things internet will understand.
- Internet
- Open Directory Project – human created
- Google uses (some say steal!) ODP content to base their index on – bots enter stage left
- ODP disappears
- Independent directories spring up
- Google disallows these from appearing in their index
- Mega-Directories disappear
- Google scans all books
- Re-Captcha’s make their appearance – some of which help Google understand text scanned and presented as re-captchas
- Forums – people chat and engage anonymously
- Zuckerberg’s romantic intentions get rebuffed
- Zuck hacks Harvard and starts a directory in which fellow Harvard students entered their own information and photos into a template that he had devised.
- Facebook becomes the bones upon which people give content away to make others rich
- Facebook ‘normalises’ posting content under your own identity
- Bots become a normal thing
- Google places pressure on News Content
- Internet users get their daily news dose from Google or Facebook who ‘steal’ the content, repackage it, surround it with adverts and monetise the work of others on a massive scale.
Somewhere in the above was the lightbulb moment that created AI
AI is a massive attempt to gather all the above content into a cohesive behemoth that will individually answer any question based on the huge amount of stolen and public knowledge that we have all shared freely.
And the saddest thing of all is that we have bots that post stuff and respond to people furthering the illusion that the internet actually connects people.

It is true AI can’t create any new information or new service or new product. It’s just rehashing existing content from across the Web.
