Macro Testing
I got my new Olympus E-420 DSLR today.
Went out for a bit and snapped away (even though it’s extremely cold). I still have a lot to learn!
I got an amazing deal on the thing with a whole shabang of goodies!

Question…..
It has two Memory ports

Does it make any difference which I choose?

the Canon SX30 Was good but I could not pass up this deal!
the Canon SX30 and the Olympus E-420 were $449 + tax = $508 at best buy/ future shop.
The electronics store (that has now gone out of business) I went to had the Olympus and all those lenses and extras and I managed to haggle the price down to $460 cash :)!
I could not pass it up. Plus it’s nice having all these wonderful features in a DSLR that i could not have in the Canon.

I think you made the best decision. You certainly got far more for your money. That looks great for ISO 1600.
CF are usually pretty fast I think. But all types of cards come in different speeds depending on the quality of the card. If there is a big difference, you should notice it when shooting in continuous shooting mode or when downloading. It may matter mostly when shooting raw since they are bigger files.

So what was so bad about the Canon? Did you trade the old one in?
Congratulations on the camera. I use SanDisk Extreme SD card in one of my cameras, which is rated at 30 MB/s, and a CF card in my other camera, which can go as fast as 60 MB/s. You can probably configure your camera to use both, in which case it should be able to write in parallel.

Congratulations! I always go with a Compact Flash card first, then use the XD as a reserve in case I run out of room.
