The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Fire and Emergency Department is warning the public about an intense fire outside Pick n Pay Hyper at the William Moffet Retail Park. The fire broke out in the trolley storage area behind the building, and it has not affected the building except smoke which accessed through extractor fans.
The Fire and Emergency Services are presently responding to and managing the incident, with efforts focused on containing the fire and ensuring the safety of the retail park and surrounding community. The situation is currently stable, and road access remains unaffected.
Four firefighting vehicles and teams have been deployed to manage the blaze, with the affected area subject to ongoing monitoring. Residents are advised to exercise caution in the vicinity. Nearby communities are advised to stay alert and immediately report any signs of flare-ups, smoke, or fire activity. Public safety remains a top priority, and teams will remain on high alert until the area is declared fully safe.
