Building History
Up until 1999 the building was a typical south facing residential property.
After the sale the building was re-purposed as a business site.
No external changes were made to the building whilst internally the offices have been through a few changes to better suit the new purpose.
Externally the building has had security improved, paved and fitted with an extensive Solar System.
Straton Electrical is an Electrical Contracting firm (established in 1966 as Straton & Co. Pty Ltd) which specialises in the commercial and retail sectors. We have well qualified electricians who will be able to install and maintain electrical circuits and building automation systems to meet your requirements.
Straton Electrical grew out of Straton & Co. (Pty) Ltd, which was established in 1966 by George W. Straton. Owner Michael Straton was exposed to Electrical Contracting from a young age and counts on experience stretching back to 1989 in the commercial and industrial sectors. Some of Straton Electricals loyal clients have been with the firm for decades.
Michael is a qualified Installation Electrician and is ably assisted by Kevin O’Donoghue, who is a qualified Electrician.
Straton Electrical is a member of the Electrical Contractors Association.

Building Automation Systems specialises in programming C-Bus lighting system installations for large-scale developments. From the initial planning stage, through to the final commissioning, Building Automation Systems is able to provide valuable assistance to the development team.
Our services include:
- Assistance with planning the C-Bus lighting system
- Supply of the C-Bus components
- Supervising the installation of the C-Bus units and cabling
- Programming the C-Bus units
- Training the client to manage the system
Building Automation Systems is also able to facilitate the installation of KNX based systems. KNX is a worldwide Standard for all applications in home and building control.All products which bear the KNX logo are able to be integrated into the building control system. This ensures that different products from different manufacturers can operate and communicate with each other, even when used in different applications. This enables a high degree of flexibility in the extension and modification of installations.
Mbane Contracting is an electrical and general contracting company based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), South Africa and was established in July 2000. It forms part of the Stratlec Group of Electrical and Building Automation Contractors.
Mbane Contracting focus on general and electrical contracting work in the industrial, commercial, retail and domestic sectors. Our core expertise, lies in installing electrical installations for the Telecommunications industry.
Mbane Contracting has been closely involved with the development of the MTN network infrastructure in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Working with Transtel, Plessey and currently BJB Projects, a quality product is delivered to MTN.
We service the Eastern Cape for MTN by providing electrical reticulation for new cellular sites and also upgrading several existing sites. We have also worked at Telkom, Cell C and Vodacom sites.
The Stratlec Group online shop is collection of our successful products that we ship to clients all over South Africa.
