When the real heroes who will accelerate us out of our current mess have the ability and the knowledge to sort out potholes, streetlights, water and electricity woes right at their fingertips.
According to official municipal integrated development planning documents, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has approximately 5,679 filled employee positions out of a total organogram structure of roughly 7,885 approved posts.
Those employees are the ones that actually do the work that keeps our city running and they are the ones that we should be supporting and guiding to greatness.
Not ONE of the candidates has put forward a credible plan to actually fix our municipal employees.
All speak on a high level about ED’s and MM’s but not one has a credible plan to actually make the people at the coal face, the ones that face our ire and displeasure on a daily basis, into a friendly and efficient team that WANTS to work and help to fix our metro.
Until we re-motivate the entire municipal workforce we are dead in the water.
My analogy is based on what Gordan Ramsay does to fix a failing restaurant:
- Fix the interpersonal relationships
- Fix the product
The ONE candidate that proposes such a fix is the one that deserves our support.
