How many times in your lifetime (over 50’s) have you read or heard these words about our great sportsmen who ‘missed’ an Olympics, ‘missed’ professional sport or were denied playing on the world stage; “Plenty will tell you he was simply born at the wrong time in a country that chose politics over pure ability?”
That could also have been put in this way; “Plenty will tell you he was simply born at the wrong time in a country that chose race over pure ability?”
The racial policies of that time and now are still placing us as DIFFERENT based on the colour of our skin.
We all recognise that dogs are all the same, so why can we not recognise that humans are all the same?
I fear that a lifetime of prejudice is now being ‘solved’ by a lifetime of what is essentially another prejudice – just like the job resevation of the past, we have quotas and BEE.
What damage are we perpetuating on our youth who do not share the same hurt and damage that we experienced?
What grants the government the right to continue dividing us and perpetuating bitterness?
