The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says that they are pleased to confirm that the municipal water supply system has fully recovered following the repair of the burst 500 mm pipeline.
Water supply has been restored across the metro, and teams are currently focused on replenishing reservoirs to increase storage levels and strengthen security of supply throughout the system.
Residents who are experiencing isolated or localised water interruptions are encouraged to report them by contacting the Municipal Call Centre on 0800 20 50 50 so that they can be investigated and resolved as quickly as possible.
The Municipality thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during the repair and recovery process.

Planned Eskom Power Shutdown to Affect Water Supply on Thursday, 30 July 2026
Residents are advised that a planned Eskom electricity shutdown on Thursday, 30 July 2026, will temporarily interrupt the water supply from the Nooitgedacht Water Treatment Works.
As a result, areas supplied by the Nooitgedacht system are expected to experience reduced water pressure or water interruptions during the shutdown. The affected areas include those north of the Swartkops River, extending towards the R75, as well as parts of New Brighton and KwaZakhele.
This is a planned preventative maintenance shutdown by Eskom to improve the reliability and security of the electricity supply. The interruption to water supply is therefore unavoidable while the maintenance is being carried out.
Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to use water sparingly ahead of the shutdown and to store sufficient water for essential household needs.
The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience and appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation.
