The Department of Agriculture, alongside the NMBM Executive Mayor, Cllr Babalwa Lobishe and the Economic Development Tourism and Agriculture directorate handed over poultry feed from the Department of Agriculture Extension office in Kariega today.
A total of 1604 bags of poultry feed worth R846 697,00 were handed over to 8 poultry farms.
These farmers are members of Uitenhage Despatch Greenbushes Rocklands(UDGRO) secondary cooperation.
The MEC of Agriculture, Ms Nonceba Kontsiwe encouraged the farmers in attendance to use their resources and encouraged them to unite so they can be able to get further. The MEC committed to supporting the farmers further and will do regular visits to ensure that there is progress.
The Executive Mayor, Cllr Babalwa Lobishe welcomed the support and confirmed NMBM’s ongoing support to the farmers to encourage inclusive economic growth.
The MMC for EDTA, Cllr Bassie Kamana also mentioned that the farmers would also get poultry medication.
