This afternoon I received this message via e-mail from a magazine owner/editor: “Please delete my profile off mypr.co.za with immediate effect. You have listed my details incorrectly – and comes across very suspicious.“
This e-mail followed a phone call from a minion who requested the same result but said that they were laying the blame on the large drop in the number of press releases being sent to the magazine solely on the incorrect details reflected on the listing. So, the logical thing to do is to correct the listing so that the situation can be rectified – which is what I suggested that they do.
Apparently in Cape Town that is NOT normal business practice to collaborate or correct – or so it would seem.
In the old days I would have risen to the bait and spent a good amount of time and effort by answering this person and genuinely assisting her to get better value out of the MyPR Listing (for free). Today I look at the 3 000 odd visitors sent to this person’s business and quietly delete the listing, knowing that if someone wants to cut off their nose to spite their own face then I am not responsible.
Did I say that the listing and business sent to this client was all for free from my side?
Moral of the story?
Some people’s children need to take a breath and recognise when other people help them without thought of compensation and no malice. Here in Gqeberha, Nelson Mandela Bay we tend to help just because we can!
