This morning I went on a journey to the Strand Street Train Station – apparently contractors have been appointed to finally fix the roof and I thought it might be a good idea to welcome the contractor to the area.
Suffice to say that the Train Station looks like an area that could cause embarrassment to a third world country and that the contractor was nowhere to be found, nor had the contractor checked in with any of the security in the past week. So, maybe we will see action next year after the builder’s holiday.
Now the freeway section from Mount Road to the slip road down to Strand Street is well known to most – just after the Post Office one veers left to descend under the freeway and proceed to the Campanile.
As you approach Strand Street there have always been homeless people (and their detritus) to left and right. The cement columns are blacked by the many fires and, on a hot day, you do not want to inhale any of the smells. That hot ammonia smell from urine casually splashed all over can make one gag.
BUT, this morning was a doozy – just before we approached the yield line to gain access to Strand Street I spotted to my left a ‘gentleman’ waving his left hand at all the vehicles going past. When I looked closer he was sitting down on the guard rail and merrily having a crap. Pants off around his ankles and in full view of every single person.
Our society has sunk to record breaking new lows!
