The Mayor’s Scores Are In – Guess how our Masters Have Done

Certain sectors of our population (I like to think that that sector represents people who care!) were aghast to read in The Herald that our Executive Mayor, Babalwa Lobishe, has given herself a 4/5 rating for performance.

On 30 April 2025 we at MyNMB put up an anonymous poll asking for residents to rate the performance of our Executive Mayor and friends on the Mayco.

Below are the results so far – FAIR WARNING – the results are not enough to be statistically relevant but telling enough to say that the overall trend is nowhere near 4/5 at present. Things will change when our Mayor’s friends realise that we also want them to vote and weigh in with their opinions. After all that is what democracy is.

The average score is based on a simple 20 to 100% rating for each goal (as set out by the Mayor earlier this year). So an Average Score of 20% will result in an Average Score Number of 1 whereas an Average Score of 100% will result in an overall Average Score of 5.

The results so far:

1. Rate the Overall Performance of the above Mayoral Committee Members: Average score – 1.667
2. Rate the Mayor’s performance towards achieving the goal of Institutional transformation and organisational development: Average score – 1.333
3. Rate the Mayor’s performance towards achieving the goal of Local Economic Development: Average score – 1
4. Rate the Mayor’s performance towards achieving the goal of Financial viability and Management: Average score – 1.167
5. Rate the Mayor’s performance towards achieving the goal of improved Service Delivery: Average score – 1.167
6. Rate the Mayor’s performance towards achieving the goal of Infrastructure Investment: Average score – 1
7. Rate the Mayor’s performance towards achieving the goal of Good Governance: Average score – 1.167
8. Rate the Mayor’s performance towards achieving the goal of Public Participation: Average score – 1.5
9. Rate the Mayor’s performance towards achieving the goal of improved Communication: Average score – 1.333
10. Rate the MAYOR’s Overall Performance: Average score – 1.167
11. Are NMB politicians more responsive and accessible than before 31 October 2024: Average score – 0
