After a surprise ‘sneak attack’ bout of loadshedding last night Eskom announced this morning that loadshedding has been suspended until further notice.
Editor – Maybe one day we will see this announcement:
Eskom has announced that they do NOT need an increase for the next year and anticipate a reduction in energy prices due to the large uptake of renewable energy now powering the grid.
Join the Revolution: Straton Solar.
And, just for fun, let me tell you what I tell every potential client; “Be a Hippy and rather install a grid-tied system with NO batteries!”
WHY?
- It is far cheaper (less than 70 cents per kWh as opposed to a couple of rand per kWh with batteries)
- Grid-tie will help the entire country as you ‘gift’ a few kWh’s of energy to the grid
- Eventually those few kWh gifts will accumulate so high that Eskom will not need to dip into your taxpayer money to stay afloat OR action loadshedding.
Imagine a scenario where excess solar power powers the country during the day and Eskom gets to power South Africa at night.
