The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to advise residents and affected stakeholders of a planned electricity shutdown to allow for essential maintenance and repairs to the electricity network.
LOCATION: Swartkops Substation (66kV Yard)
SCHEDULED DATES:
- Primary: Sunday, 9 August 2026
- Alternative (if required): Sunday, 16 August 2026
TIME: 07:00 – 19:00
REASON FOR SHUTDOWN: Repairs and maintenance of 66kV oil circuit breakers (OCBs).

The planned shutdown is necessary to ensure the continued safety, reliability and integrity of the electricity network. Every effort will be made to complete the work within the scheduled timeframe.
