Innovators BeeInventive have given their signature Flow Hive a makeover, increasing both bee and honey storage capacity.
With reports of world insect populations plummeting, the timing couldn’t be better. The ease of harvesting honey with a Flow Hive continues to inspire many thousands of people around the world to take up beekeeping.
“We love receiving feedback from our growing Flow Hive community – our Flow Hive 2 has been well received, yet one of the most common requests was for this hive to come in the popular 10 frame Langstroth size. So here it is, Flow Hive 2 with 7 frames” said Cedar Anderson, co-inventor of the Flow Hive.
“The larger model means people can harvest even more honey from a very small footprint in their backyard and they have more honey to share with friends and family. For bees in colder regions, this is a great hive. It allows bee colonies to expand and have more space for winter stores,” explained Cedar.
The newest model continues Flow’s ethos of supporting Australian jobs and using sustainably sourced timber. The hive is crafted from sustainably harvested Australian Araucaria using precision laser manufacturing.
When the original Flow Hive received a facelift in 2018 to become the Flow Hive 2, it sold out within days. The Flow Hive team expect this new larger model to sell just as quickly – especially in the northern hemisphere as they prepare for spring. Cedar suggested anybody interested should get in quickly with their order.
“Our new and bigger Flow Hive 2 Araucaria is in limited release and includes enticing bonuses like a free hive stand, harvesting shelf and Flow veil at US$133 value. Demand is usually high so we expect to sell out fast” said Cedar.
Flow recently celebrated its fourth birthday – another milestone for the father and son team who invented the Flow Hive. With more than 65,000 Flow Hives in more than 130 countries in every corner of the globe, Flow has been at the vanguard of a resurgence in beekeeping, particularly in urban environments and with beginners.
This was brought about because the Flow Hive provides a system for easy and fast honey extraction without the heavy lifting, mess and special equipment associated with conventional harvesting methods.
