The MBDA board has placed Anele Qaba (CEO) on precuationary suspension with immediate effect pending an investigation on various allegations of misconduct.
The Board of Directors of the MBDA today (18 December 2025) resolved to place Mr Anele Qaba on precautionary suspension with immediate effect.
This action by the Board is not a pronouncement of guilt against Mr Qaba but is for the purpose of ensuring that proper due processes to investigate the allegations continues without any hindrance or potential interference.
The Board will offer no further comment on this matter until the matters confronting the CEO are fully investigated, impartially and fairly. The board has been resolute in ensuring that good governance and accountability is adhered to at all times. It is important that the citizens of the metro are prioritised in all the decisions that the entity takes. We wish to take all our stakeholders including the MBDA staff into confidence and assure them of outmost consideration in dealing with this matter.
