The Public Hearing on the Draft 2023/24 Annual Report was an important engagement session, attended by NMBM Senior Management and the COO’s Office. During the meeting, Cllr Itumeleng Ranyele, Chairperson of MPAC, highlighted the committee’s critical role in overseeing the municipality’s financial and operational performance. This oversight ensures that the municipality is held accountable for its actions and decisions, maintaining transparency in the process.
The Acting COO, Dr William Obeng provided a detailed explanation of the process for adopting the Annual Report, including the crucial step of tabling the draft report in Council by 31 January 2024. This formal presentation in Council is a requirement before the draft report can be published and circulated to all relevant stakeholders, ensuring that key individuals and organizations are kept informed.
The hearing also served as a platform for residents to engage directly with the municipality, offering valuable feedback and raising concerns about various issues affecting the community. This open dialogue supports the municipality’s commitment to public participation and responsiveness, as required by the Municipal Systems Act.
The session further exemplified the municipality’s approach to building strong relationships with residents and fostering transparency through regular communication and active engagement in the decision-making process.
