Monday’s balmy weather called for a late evening stroll on the beachfront.
Sue and I loaded the B&W 4 Legged one into the van for a quick trip to Hobie Beach for a stroll – I am allowed out of the house and off the lead but NOT Bonny the Boston Terrier.
And, of course, the Age Functions kicked in as we looked in horror upon the mess that our beachfront has sunk too.
Just a few of our observations:
- Traffic light poles missing
- No lights working along the pathway
- Scant regard for Traffic laws
- Grown women openly kissing and rubbing each other
- Couples exploring the deepest parts of each other
- One man ‘sneakily’ photographing his partner’s booty (many times)
- Every gathering with open alcohol
- Mess everywhere
- Discarded alcohol bottles everywhere
- Unhappy Bonny denied KFC bones every 5 meters
- The earthy aroma of human shit (twice)
- The sharp ammonia smell of fresh urine on bricks
- People swimming in the dark in their clothes
- People fishing off of Shark Rock Pier
- Young children vaping….
Now, if I was the Mayor looking for money to finance the proposed R2.6 Billion debt write off then I would deploy the Metro Police in the short stretch of beachfront from Barnies to the last slipway on Hobie Beach to just issue fines and – bonus – confiscate alcohol.
No wonder our tourism bed nights are plummeting!
