In the Mayor’s New Years message to us mere mortals there is one paragraph that needs attention:
The Executive Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says; “Together, we are working to position Nelson Mandela Bay as a destination of choice for tourism, investment and quality of life – a city that attracts opportunity while always putting the needs of it’s people first”
Seeing as the so-called media communications specialists on the Municipal WhatsApp Group have never answered any (probing) questions posed by the 4th Estate I now ask my questions as an open letter:
- Who is the ‘we’ in your statement?
- Name ONE tourist attraction that brings visitors consistently to NMB year after year?
- Why should anyone invest in NMB?
- Define your version of a good ‘quality of life’?
- Looking at the 14.77% Average year on year increase in the price of electricity and very low salary increases just how are you putting the needs of our people first?
- Define whom you see in your mind’s eye when you refer to ‘our’ people!
