This morning’s ruminations were inspired by this Africa Fact: “A larger share of the pie is staying on the continent – Of the entities doing business in Africa, companies that are based in Africa or local African offices of international companies report larger increases in revenue and profitability than their internationally based or located peers.”

Our leaders need to start critically analysing why Africa is on the up, how the successful African countries are achieving this and how we as South Africans can enjoy the potential prosperity that lies ahead whilst shaking off the chains of living in the past.
At present South Africa’s political leaders appear to spend an inordinate amount of time seeking to address the imbalances of the past.
This is in their utterances around apartheid, race, BEE and land – subjects that South Africa has been grappling with since the races and cultures first came into touch with one another.
The time to actually focus on the future and build a viable nation with a viable plan for all seems to have slipped passed all of us.
I am a great believer in trying to not say negative things as that ‘water under the bridge’ collection of pinpricks of hurt all eventually swell to swamp the very bridge that one stands on. And I can see the water rising people – some of us are going to drown in the deluge of hate being thrown about presently.
We all know what we need so why are we so reluctant to embrace all the things that make us great together – surely we are not reluctant as a result of the ‘Leader of the Free World’ usurping the word GREAT and making it into a word with the same connotations as the word, APARTHEID?
- Do we really feel free as South Africans?
- Do we really trust our political leaders?
- Do we really love one another?
- Do we really have a plan to box out of penury into positivity and prosperity?
- Would we rather stick with the Devil we Know?
Let’s STOP looking backwards to the past and look forward to the future and embrace all of it’s possibilities.
Let’s rather plan a life together and NOT a life of division and strife.
