Anonymous on how to improve NMB:
To improve a city suffering from poor service delivery, the focus should start with restoring the basics. That means fixing water, electricity, waste removal, and road maintenance through proper planning, preventative maintenance, and faster response teams. Next, hiring competent, qualified staff is essential — people with the technical expertise and work ethic to actually execute the city’s duties. This also means removing or retraining underperforming staff and ensuring appointments are based on merit, not politics.
Then comes strong accountability and clean governance: transparent budgets, strict oversight, anti-corruption measures, and performance reviews for every department. Infrastructure needs consistent investment — not just patch-ups, but long-term upgrades that prevent future failures. Finally, community engagement is critical: listening to residents, responding to complaints, involving local organisations, and rebuilding trust through visible, consistent action.
A major part of restoring order is dismantling corrupt networks and criminal syndicates that have infiltrated municipal processes. This means tightening procurement systems, enforcing security around tenders, working with law-enforcement to remove intimidation and extortion from projects, and protecting honest officials who want to do their jobs without fear.
