The Feather Market Organ Society and the Music Society of Port Elizabeth jointly present a concert of lovely music.
The concert is unique in the sense that the programme will consist of music from the movies and musicals. Together, with the music, videos from the relevant movies will be shown, resulting in a lovely audio-visual experience for the audience!
Six well-known Port Elizabeth singers will treat the audience to hits, such as, Feed the Birds, Tomorrow, Moon River, Somewhere over the Rainbow, If I were a rich man, Get me to the church on time, All I ask of you and others. The singers are Khaya Hadi, Elsje Nelson, Alfred Felkers, Naomi Grobbelaar, Kiana de la Rouviere and Karika le Roux.
Organist, Albert Troskie, will perform impressive extracts from A Space Oddyssey and Phantom of the Opera on the large Summerstrand organ.
Concert pianist, Erika Bothma-Troskie, will play the lovely Dawn from Pride and Prejudice and, together with Hanlie Young, will do all the accompaniments for the singers. Together with Albert Troskie, she will also play the theme from Immortal Beloved – the movie of Beethoven’s life.
Violin virtuoso, David Bester, will play Ladies in Lavender, as well as, Gabriel’s Oboe and Czardas by Monti, together with clarinettist, Heidi Faber. She will also play extracts from the lovely sound track of the movie, Out of Africa. Jazz pianist, John Edwards, will treat the audience on a medley of music from the movies. The flute ensemble, Amore Musicae, will perform a charming medley from Sound of Music and the performance of Optima Voices. The choir of Westering High School, conducted by Elbe Coetzee, includes, You’ll never walk alone and Climb every Mountain.
In the end of what promises to be an unforgettable concert, all musicians and also the audience, will participate in a sing-along Finale to close the concert with Edelweiss.
Admission is only R 50 – Adults and R 40 for pensioners. No entrance fee for students and school learners. There will be safe parking. No pre-booking. Tickets are sold at the door.
