GQEBERHA – The Nelson Mandela Bay uh District Intervention Task Team has made a breakthrough in an attempted murder investigation in Algoa Park by arresting and linking a 20-year-old suspect, who was previously arrested for murder, to the attempted murder of a 42-year-old man.
The attempted murder incident occurred on 26 June 2026 at approximately 07:35 in Ysterhout Street, Algoa Park. It is alleged that the victim was walking along the street when he heard someone calling out to him. The suspect allegedly ran towards him and fired several shots in his direction. Fortunately, the victim was not injured, and the suspect fled the scene in the direction of Missionvale.
An attempted murder case was opened, and detectives continued with the investigation. During the investigation, the suspect was identified as 20-year-old Siya Lloyd, who had already been arrested in connection with the murder of Wayne Rossouw, which occurred in Ysterhout Street on 7 August 2026.
The NMB District Intervention Task Team’s investigation subsequently linked Lloyd to the attempted murder case, resulting in the additional charge being placed before the court. Lloyd appeared at the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and attempted murder. The matter was remanded to 1 September 2026 for a formal bail application.
