We have all seen those images depicting pristine government buildings and gardens ‘during apartheid’ juxtaposed with the ‘now’ evidence.
One would think the the people posting these images are all White ‘When We’s’ refusing to move on and be part of the solution rather than part of the problem pulling us all down.
But,
‘One’ would be wrong.
I have seen a couple of these image groups posted by people that I KNOW were involved in the struggle and suffered greatly under apartheid.
Sure,
They could be using these images as an aid to awaken the present ‘inheritors of apartheid’ into seeing just how badly our infrastructure has deteriorated….
But,
What people on both sides of the apartheid divide forget is that during the days of apartheid the white man subjugated the black man into near slavery and turned millions of black people into peons and labourers.
Today,
We are all equal and no longer subjugated to the rule of one racial group denying the vote to other racial groups.
So,
I say – don’t waste your time pining for the bad old days of apartheid, rather spend your time finding solutions.
