Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Councillor Babalwa Lobishe, chaired her weekly Mayoral Committee (MAYCO) meeting today at the Council Chambers in City Hall. The meeting brought together the Acting City Manager, Deputy Mayor, Executive Directors, and Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs) to discuss key municipal issues and service delivery priorities.
A key focus of the meeting was the upcoming G20 summit and the anticipated visit from the President, with discussions centered on the municipality’s role in these significant events and the opportunities they present for the region.
The agenda also featured a presentation on the Africa Coastal Marine and Maritime Tourism Trade Market, highlighting economic growth opportunities within the maritime sector. Additionally, the committee deliberated on the registration of spaza shops, aiming to formalize and support small businesses to ensure compliance with municipal regulations while fostering local economic development.
Other key municipal matters, including infrastructure maintenance, public safety, and service delivery interventions, were also discussed to ensure continued progress in meeting the needs of residents.
