Kenguru - "The first ever electrically powered vehicle designed especially for wheelchair users." Wheelchair users drive Kenguru directly from a wheelchair – access is via the rear-opening tailgate and steering is by motorbike style handlebar. The wheelchair is secured within the car by an interlocking device. The current design allows parking rear end to the pavement for easy access and it is an ideal solution to drivers who only undertake journeys to local shops and services. Because of its weight the Kenguru is classified as a scooter and therefore only a scooter driver’s licence is required to drive Kenguru.

14% of all greenhouse gases come from automobiles. Some parts of the world are fighting to build the infrastructure for electric cars. Others are still fighting to create a traditional automotive infrastructure. So what if we leapfrog straight past the need for infrastructure altogether?
We can use solar power to propel electric cars - literally and within the popular imagination. We want people to drive a light year’s worth of kilometers on solar power by 2035.
The roof and hood of Lightyear One comprise of five square meters of integrated solar cells within safety glass so strong that a fully grown adult can walk on them without causing dents. As a result, Lightyear One charges itself whenever it absorbs daylight.

Let’s kickstart the #PlasticRevolution! In June 2016 we decided to try and build a boat entirely from plastic collected on beaches and roadsides in Kenya to show the potential of ‘already-used’ plastic. And two years later, using overten tonnes of plastic waste and thousands of repurposed flipflops – we have succeeded. Built on the island of Lamu using traditional dhow builders and techniques, the world’s very first 100% recycled plastic dhow set sail in September 2018.But of course it has never really been about the boat... we simply want to demonstrate that single use plastic doesn’t make sense. We hope people around the world are inspired to find their own ways to repurpose ‘already-used’ plastic.
The next step in our journey is to sail our boat to Zanzibar sharing our message along the east African coast, talking to law makers, companies and communities about what can be done to reduce plastic use and to stop plastic ending up in the environment.

Sono Motors, a Germany-based EV startup behind the Sion, a solar-powered electric car. The Sion is equipped with both a battery pack, which can be charged like a regular electric car, and also a system of integrated solar cells that can charge the vehicle – albeit slower. Adding solar to electric vehicles has so far been mostly superficial, but Sono claims that it adds up to 30 km per day.
