Veteran Nelson Mandela Bay Media Communications specialist, Kupido Baron, was recently fired on four counts of failing to carry out work assigned to him.
Leaving out the fact that the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has many senior officials, accused of stealing and worse, on paid leave costing the city millions in salaries and legal costs I find it very strange that the municipality can even find the capacity, time and will to fire someone for not doing any work.
IMAGINE: That I placed results of a survey here that proves that municipal employees actually do do some work – JUST KIDDING!
I have dealt with Kupido since the first days that Hilton Shorrock and I started MyPE.co.za (over 20 years ago) and have over the years found Kupido to be hard working, relentless, fair and approachable.
Herein lies the rub, though – it would be poetic to find out that it was one of Kupido’s fellow employees in communications that leaked the story to The Herald as that would probably represent the only time that an NMB Communication Specialist has spoken directly to a member of the media.
If that is the case then that employee should be in for the high jump as her Supremeness, Babalwa, issued a statement recently ‘forbidding’ anyone in the employ of the municipality to speak to the media!
