Thousands of people are expected to converge at the Derrick Ferreira Stadium in Kariega, Nelson Mandela Bay for the Human Rights Celebration on Friday, 21 March 2025.
The celebrations will be addressed by South African Deputy President, Paul Mashatile. Due to the influx of attendees expected, both on foot and organised transportation, a number of roads around the venue will be closed.
Road closures are as follows:
Main venue at the stadium
- Dodo and Seagull streets will be closed for traffic
- All side streets leading to the stadium will be closed, the roads are; Cockatoo, Toucan, Tern, Meeu, Plover and Bleshouender
- Taxis ferrying passengers to the stadium must access through Moseveg road, traffic officers will then direct them to Seagulls Primary School
- All the members of the public must use the Seagull Road entrances to access the stadium
Memorial site in KwaLanga, Maduna Road
- Maduna Road between Middle Road and 20th Avenue will be closed
- Traffic officers will be visible around the site to closely monitor traffic and guide traffic
Town Hall in Kariega
- Caledon, Chase and Constitutional Streets be closed. These closures will deny access for traffic to the Town Hall.
All the closures will be effective from 06h00 to 15h00
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to apologise for the inconvenience that will be caused the the road closures.
