The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Executive Mayor Cllr, Babalwa Lobishe addressed the Council Meeting today, highlighting the ongoing crime crisis affecting our communities as a huge problem.
“Recent incidents, including the abduction of a teacher from an Algoa Park School, continue to shock us,” commented the Mayor. She urges the public to support the crime petition calling for stronger interventions from the President to restore state authority and protect lives and livelihoods.
The Municipality is committed to fighting crime, with recent efforts supported by MEC Xolile Nqatha, who announced strategic actions such as deploying 150 additional Public Order Policing officers and 15 detectives.
Despite these challenges, Mayor Lobishe also celebrated Bafana Bafana’s inspiring performance under Coach Hugo Broos, bringing renewed pride as the team pushes for 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.
