I read with interest the letters on Facebook from politicians apologising for not attending Babalwa’s State of the Metro address in Despatch.
The reasons given are all around cost to the ratepayer.
Not one gives the real reason – they are afraid (jealous?) of the fact that this address is just a bit of political grandstanding by the party in power over the rest of the minions.
The State of the Metro address grants Babalwa and friends a bit of ANC back patting paid for by the ratepayers.
If I was going I would be counting the number of times that glowing references to the ANC were made, along with the party colours woven into the party faithful’s designer duds.
By all means report back on the State of the Metro – but be discreet about it.
Remember the old adage; “There is no such thing as a free lunch?” Well, there is also; “No such thing as a free State of the Metro address dinner either!”
