After heeding a call from two desperate mothers who had their premature babies stolen at Dora Nginza, Deputy Executive Mayor Cllr Gary van Niekerk rushed to the hospital today to understand what had transpired.
The DEM expressed relief upon discovering the babies are now safe after an intense overnight search. He also offered words of comfort to the emotional mothers after the traumatic ordeal and commended the swift, united response by all involved. Doctors, police, hospital staff, and community members worked through the night to bring the newborns back to safety.
Dr. Zuko R. Nxiweni, CEO of Dora Nginza Hospital, praised the joint effort: “This is the quickest we have been able to resolve a dilemma of this nature. We are deeply grateful to everyone involved.” The babies are now safe and receiving care at Dora Nginza Hospital.
