
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Acting City Manager Sizwe Mvunelwa presented an overview of the Draft 2023/24 Annual Report, which outlines the Municipality’s progress in achieving the strategic objectives set in the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) while also addressing challenges affecting service delivery.
He highlighted key projects implemented during the year, including:
- Addressing the ongoing drought by implementing response and recovery measures to ensure long-term water security.
- Promoting local economic growth and job creation.
- Expanding the provision of basic services to all communities.
- Strengthening financial management, ensuring transparent governance, and combating corruption.
- Enhancing financial stability and control to improve the Municipality’s fiscal health.
Mvunelwa also stressed the negative impact of illegal connections, noting that they remain a significant challenge to effective service delivery in the Metro.
