I have been doing the Cricket beat at St Georges Park for longer that I care to remember.
Hilton Shorrock and I were the first journos to use technology to keep our readers informed with Twitter and a Live Blog on MyPE – now those were exciting days as we got to grips with this new technology which, today, is ubiquitous. Anyone in hte world with the right phone can do what we did then.
Walking in to the media center this morning I did not see ONE familiar face, I did not hear ONE familiar voice. In fact there were more people in the media center than we have seen at games on occasion.
A stranger in my own town!
In previous games it has only been myself and Amir Chetty from The Herald as the only members of the 4th Estate in attendance.
And yet, despite the rain Gqeberha residents and travelleing sports tourists came out in numbers to watch the 2nd Test today.
But, the perfect storm is missing an essential ingredient – favourable weather. Today we saw the covers being dragged on a number of times as SA struggled to gain rythym. A bit of a disappointment for our foreign visitors I am sure.

Rain and Pressure Predictions #SAvAUS:
The weather for the next 4 days is also a bit of a crap shoot. Below are the rain and pressure predictions (as at 9:00 am daily) for the next 4 days – for some there will be huge disappointment as Monday looks like a normal day at the office as opposed to a day in your ‘sick bed’ at the cricket!
