On March 5th, 2008, comedian Chantal Harris drove into rehab with a Bloody Mary in hand – double shot, maybe triple. Who’s counting?
Sixteen years later, she’s coming clean – on stage.
In this gutsy and hilarious solo show, ADHD, the Bottle and Me, Harris cracks open the entangled mess of alcohol addiction, impulsivity, and a late ADHD diagnosis. With an irreverent sense of humour and a surprisingly hopeful heart, she shares the detours, disasters, and dazzling chaos of her recovery journey.
“It’s a little bit funny, a little bit sad, and maybe even a little bit helpful,” says Harris, a newcomer to the Gqeberha comedy circuit with a story that hits harder than your average punchline.
Directed by award-winning actor, playwright, and director Sophie Joans, known for her offbeat brilliance and love of the bizarre, this show promises to be both ridiculous and resonant.
“Chantal’s writing is witty and endearing, filled with delightful twists in a powerful story. Her performance is hilarious. I’m honoured to be part of this project,” says Joans.
